Graduate School "Functional Research in Medicine"

The Graduate School offers a high-level research environment and excellent facilities for its graduate students to work at the front end of research, supports research work aiming at doctoral dissertation, and promotes clinical and technological applications of biomedical engineering and physics. In addition, the Graduate School promotes efficient use of the resources, brings synergy advantages in teaching, and reduces overlap in research work. In particular, mobility of the graduate students is supported both in Finland and abroad.

The Graduate School is funded by the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Finland. The Graduate School was started in 1995 with five full-time graduate student positions, in collaboration between Helsinki University of Technology (HUT), Helsinki University Central Hospital, and University of Helsinki. At the beginning of 1998, the Universities of Kuopio, Oulu and Turku joined the Graduate School. The number of researcher positions in 2003-2006 is five.
